The variety of species in the genus Heuchera (coral bells) has grown to such an immense extent that it is now almost impossible to keep track of them all. The many different leaf and flower colors rightly make coral bells the star among ornamental foliage perennials.
Amid the abundance of new releases, one older variety remains my personal favorite: Heuchera ‘Bronze Beauty’. This large Villosa hybrid captivates not only with its strikingly shaped, enormous bronze leaves but also scatters stunning floral displays throughout the woodland-edge garden starting in late summer. The elegant cream-colored flower panicles rise well above the foliage and usually last until November.
