Iris lazica – Lazistan Iris
This early-spring gem from the beardless Unguicularis group originates from the eastern Black Sea region of Turkey and is also native to parts of Georgia. It tolerates significantly more (winter) moisture than other Unguicularis species and, in our experience, is therefore the easiest species to cultivate in our conditions. Its bright blue-violet flowers rise above the evergreen foliage and are true showstoppers in the spring garden. In lightly shaded locations without afternoon sun, its glossy foliage remains a delight to the eye throughout the year.
